In Game 2 of the District 7-AAA Tournament – Riverdale Softball upsets the #1 seed – Blackman 14-2 at Oakland High School.

Sarah Margaret Lowe drove in six runs on three hits to lead Riverdale past Blackman 14-2 on Sunday. Lowe drove in runs on a double in the first, a home run in the fourth, and a single in the fifth.

The Warriors got on the board in the first inning when Lowe doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Blackman knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning. Blackman scored one run when Elaina McGill singled.

Riverdale pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Lauren Hosford doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run, Kaylee Hewitt singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Jordan Komers singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Becca Komers singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Riverdale then put up five runs in the fourth inning powered by home runs from Lowe and Kendall Forsythe.

Becca Komers toed the rubber for the Warriors allowing four hits and one run over one and two-thirds innings, walking zero. Kaylee Hewitt relieved Komers allowing three hits and one run over three and a third innings, striking out 2 and walking zero.

Caitlyn Manus was in the pitcher’s circle for Blackman, tossing four and two-thirds innings, allowing 14 runs on 13 hits, striking out five and walking one. Lameisha Parker threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Riverdale socked three home runs on the day. Forsythe went deep in the fourth and fifth innings; while Lowe had a four-bagger in the fourth inning.

Riverdale racked up 13 hits in the game. Lowe, Sydney Williams, and Forsythe each had multiple hits for the Warriors with Williams and Lowe each managed three hits.

Blackman tallied seven hits in the game. Kalei Harding and Kendall Andrews each collected multiple hits for Blackman.
