Riverdale Warriors Varsity Claims Lead In Fourth Inning To Defeat Stewarts Creek
Riverdale Warriors Varsity nabbed the lead late in the game in a 15-5 victory over Stewarts Creek on Friday. Riverdale Warriors Varsity trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Sydney Williams singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Stewarts Creek scored five runs in the second inning, but Riverdale Warriors Varsity still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Stewarts Creek came thanks to singles by Emily Lehman and Mckayla Kenaun, a triple by Morgan Smith, and an error on a ball put in play by Grace Hobdy.
Riverdale Warriors Varsity got things started in the first inning. Sami Cenizal hit a solo homer.
Riverdale Warriors Varsity took the lead for good with six runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Breanna Bailey singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs and Sarah Margaret Lowe singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.
Riverdale Warriors Varsity notched seven runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught by Riverdale Warriors Varsity was led by Lowe, Macy Murphy, Lauren Hosford, Brooklynn Ott, and Emily Harris, all driving in runs in the frame.
Williams earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Riverdale Warriors Varsity. She lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and zero runs.
Amber Lawson took the loss for Stewarts Creek. She surrendered 12 runs on 17 hits over five innings.
Kaylee Hewitt started the game for Riverdale Warriors Varsity. She surrendered five runs on six hits over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking zero.
Riverdale Warriors Varsity tallied 20 hits on the day. Harris, Bailey, Cenizal, Ott, Alyssa Lemberger, Murphy, Lowe, Williams, and Hosford all had multiple hits for Riverdale Warriors Varsity. Bailey and Harris all had three hits to lead Riverdale Warriors Varsity.
